A good designer is a highly intentional individual whose work shapes the functional and aesthetic world with empathy and creativity.
Let’s work together!
Education
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English from Brigham Young University.
I worked with a girl while I was at college who majored in graphic design. I clearly remember asking her one day, “What are you going to do with that degree?”. I cringe at that question SO hard now, but I clearly remember feeling a bit jealous. Envious that she felt free to focus on creative work without any real worry about whether or not it would lead to a stable career. And the joke’s on me now because the demand for graphic designers has grown tremendously since then. (I’m not super old, but I’m also not in my 20’s— I’ll let you guess at my age).
And don’t get me wrong. I LOVE writing. But even as an English major, I believed I could only be a creative writer on the side. I was law school bound- a respectable career. And I did successfully work as a Paralegal for a while after college before deciding not go through with law school because the daily longing for more creative work was strong.
Since then, I have done extensive self-study and practice in the field of graphic design. I have designed print assets like signage and business cards, but I focus mainly on digital work. I have always been an artist (check out the business I’ve been building), and design is a functional way I can serve others through my creative abilities.
My real obsession is branding. Since childhood I have been fixated on identity- birthstones, astrological signs, flags, colors, etc. I designed myself a logo as a child that I still absentmindedly draw today— I just didn’t know it was called a logo way back then. And of COURSE I have have colors, animals, etc that represent me and all the important people in my life.
Branding wasn’t a word I ever heard while I was going through college (or it probably would have been my major). But it combines my passion for language, art, psychology, and business in one beautiful, fascinating package. And frankly, I can’t really stay away from it. I love reading different experts’ individual approaches to branding (Seth Godin, James McCrae, Jessica Zweig, Carlii Lyon…). And I’ve taken some classes… as you will see below.
Here are SOME of the design classes I have completed:

I have an unconventional background for a designer, and I believe that’s my greatest strength. I self-driven and I am plagued with insatiable curiosity.
When I want to create something, I’ll stop at nothing to bring it into reality. Even if I’m missing an entire skill… I’ll take an entire class to acquire it.
I believe in the continuous effort to build a better world. It’s the designers, the artists, the web developers who wield the greatest potential to shape future realities, and I just want to play a role in that.
