As the earliest sunrays crawl over the horizon, she rises.

She’s got her work cut out for her. New visitors are coming, new opportunities.

She tenderly sweeps away the last traces of snow, straightening trampled blades of grass.

Her affectionate gaze coaxes out green leaves and brilliant blooms, filing the air with inviting perfumes.

Bird song and babbling creeks entice us out of dark caves, hopeful and hungering for what will soon be.

It’s true when they say that nothing gold can stay, but she reminds us cheerfully that neither can the darkness.
