Idaho is special to my family. My dad is from Idaho. My parents live there now. Almost all the kids in my family attended some college there. We have all ended up living there temporarily at some point.
It’s especially dear to my younger sister, who commissioned this painting. She married an Idaho boy and spent several years with him there.They have since moved away, at least for the time being, and she asked for a painting of one of her favorite views: the Grand Teton mountains.
But not from the traditional side—not the view you will get if you visit Grand Teton National Park. Instead, she wanted a view from the other side of the mountains.
The sight the good people of Idaho see when they look out the windows of their homes or drive to work or take their family on adventures.
The side that watches over the cows, the potatoes, and the sprawling fields that Idaho is known for.
This is my magical portrayal of the Grand Teton Mountains from the Idaho side. Painted with love for my baby sister.
